A Dream Eco Wedding in Spain
Firstly, let me just say that it was an absolute pleasure to officiate Javi and Maria’s eco wedding in Spain. If you want to celebrate your wedding in Spain in an environmentally friendly way then read on!
The Wedding Planner
Organised to perfection, this Spanish eco wedding was planned by Hoja’s d’amour who specialises in environmentally friendly weddings in Andalusia. Estella, the founder of Hoja’s d’amour is passionate about protecting the planet and creates unforgettable events.
The Venue
This magical wedding took place at Retiro Sambana, a spectaculor rustic venue surrounded by stunning landscapes in Southern Spain. It’s located up in the hills just 20km from Sotogrande, and its grounds are magical with a pool, courtyard, chill out area and breathtaking views. The spacious house is a charming retreat full of artwork and character and can host up to 21 guests.
The Decor
Lemonface Deco created a stunning moon shaped, pampas grass arch and dressed the long wooden tables and bamboo chairs with hand made macrame made by Myzali New Macrame, eucalpitus, roses and wild flowers. They also provided some delicious vegan ice cream!
Silk Ribbons
Naturally dyed silk ribbons were provided by Pomegranate Colours, Rachel Wolstenholme cultavates her dyeplants in Almuñecar and uses them to dye silk and cotton.
Eco Wedding Dress
Maria wore a beautiful bohemian style dress designed by Belgium based Rembo Styling and made in Portugal. They only use sustainable materials for their elegant collections.
Sustainable Jewellery
The bride wore earrings and a necklace ethically made by Luz de NEHCA Joyería sostenible, a company that specialises in sustainable jewellery.
Eco Wedding Stationary
I’ve worked with a huge fan of Papelosophie on more than one occasion and am a huge fan, she supplied plantable seed paper invitations, vow booklets and menus.
Environmentally Friendly Confetti
The couple opted for fragrant sun dried flowers for their confetti, handpicked in the Lecrin Valley by Lecrin Garden Co and beautifully presented in little biodegradable cones made by Papelosophie.
Hair and Makeup
Maria’s natural makeup was done by experienced makeup artist and hairdresser Anne Marie Simak who also styled her beautiful long locks. Anne Marie worked for many years on the London scene and is now based in Marbella.
The Cake
Even the delicious cake made by Kat’s Cakes Marbella was decorated with a little macrame and was presented on a very original wooden hanging table made by Lemonface Deco.
Photography
All of the beauty of this wonderful eco wedding was captured by Jose and Mariki, two very talented photographers, who go by the name of Sunny September and are based in Marbella. Their work has a natural and spontaneous style which captures the emotion and magic of the moment.
Videographer
The bride and groom wanted something a little bit different and fun and that’s exactly what they got! A2C Productions created them an original and quirky video to sum up their special day.
The Wedding Ceremony
Finally, I, Bilingual Celebrant Spain, had the pleasure of officiating Maria and Javi’s Spanish wedding ceremony at sunset, with the hills and the pampas grass arch as their backdrop, they read their vows to one another and chose to have a handfasting ceremony.
